Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas mark 4
Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl, rub in the butter until the mixture is like fine breadcrumbs. Add the sugar and milk to mix to a stiff dough. Turn on to a floured surface and roll until very thin, Prick all over with a fork and cut into approx. 5cm (2") rounds or ovals. Place on lightly floured baking trays and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks. Makes 40-50
