Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas mark 4
Cream together the sugar, butter and molasses. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Divide in halves. Shape each half into a roll, about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. Cut into ¼ inch slices. Place on ungreased baking trays. Bake for 9 minutes, or until brown. Cool for 2 minutes before removing and placing on wire racks. Makes about 7 dozen
