Pear and Cinnamon Loaf

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/gas mark 4

Use a 900g/2 lb loaf tin.

Grease and line the base and sides of the loaf tin. In a small pan, melt the sugar and butter over a low heat. Set aside to cool. Pour the melted butter and sugar into a large mixing bowl and stir in the sour cream and milk. Sift the flour and cinnamon into the mixture, and stir in, then beat well. Lastly, add the chopped pears and walnuts.

Pour the mixture into the tin and bake for about 1 1/2 hours, or until the loaf starts to shrink from the sides of the tin. Allow to cool and firm up in the tin, then remove, using the lining paper to lift it out, peel off paper and cool on a wire tray.
