Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/gas mark 4

Use a 900g/2 lb loaf tin.

Grease and line the tin. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Cream the butter and sugar until light. Add the sour cream and flour. Mash the bananas and add. Add the walnuts and the cherries. Spoon into the prepared tin and smooth the surface. Bake for 11/4 hours. Test with a warm knife and turn out on a rack.
